Atlas Mara Zambia is one of the leading commercial banks in Zambia and was founded in 2016. It offers a full range of banking services to corporate and retail customers through a network of 46 branches, 11 agencies and 114 ATMs, spread across Zambia’s ten provinces.


Mainly focused around physical branch banking, ATMA bank was looking for digital transformation that helps them to reach out to the unbanked population segment of the region. Their main objective was to implement cost-effective digital banking solutions that helps them to enable basic as well as advanced financial services to their customers.

One of the challenges faced by the bank in their road to digitization was to overcome the constraints of legacy systems and data siloes. The other challenge was to offer digital experiences that are simple, convenient and meets the expectations of the digital-savvy customers.


Modefin helped the client by providing an easy-to-integrate Omni Channel Platform to help ATMA bank build on its digital offering and meet its expansion goals. The digital banking solution was built on customer-focused functionality which helped the client to achieve digital transformation without the complete overhaul of the client’s core banking systems.

Mobile Banking


Enables the bank’s customers to transfer to own & other Atlas Mara accounts, other bank & international accounts, prepaid cards & mobile

Bill Payments

Users can pay various service providers from the public and private sectors.

Airtime Top-up

Users can do Airtime Top-up for any Mobile Number- direct MNO integration – Airtel, Zamtel, MTN Service.

Card-less withdrawal

Users can generate withdrawal code for withdrawing money at ATM without a card.

Standing Order

Customers can create or stop a standing order


Enables customers to request for Hot Listing Debit Card/Prepaid cards.

Loyalty Program

Enables mobile banking customers to earn rewards or loyalty points based on their transaction profile.

Mobile Wallet

Modefin developed a user-friendly mobile wallet app – Tenga with a simple registration process. The app is available on USSD, Android and iOS.

Users can access cash via ATM, Zoona outlets, and ATMA branches.

Transfer funds to any local mobile number & Atlas Mara prepaid card.

A payment solution that allows the user to pay utility bills & for goods & services.

Users can receive funds into Tenga from any local bank account.

Non-wallet users can perform card-less ATM transactions using mobile PIN.


Agency banking offers the same services as a real bank thereby providing the people in the rural areas access to banking services.

Agent services such as checking balance, mini statement, cash in/out, cash out via prepaid and master/visa cards, bill payments, airtime top-up, change M-pin

An Agent app for customer on boarding

Admin module has the options for user registration & management, customer registration, agent registration, biller management, SMS alerts, report module, and audit logs

General Management Functions such as profile editing, changing passwords and PIN, block & unblock passwords and view transactions.
